Hi! I am
Armando Zanone
Prof. Ph.D. Chemical Engineer
I am a Chemical Engineer undergraduate at Maua Institute of Technology (2015), Master (2017) and PhD (2022) in Chemical Engineering at Polytechnic School of the University of Sao Paulo (EP-USP). I work with Process Simulation and study the CO2 capture process using aqueous alcanolamine solvents.
I started my academic career as a technical staff assistant in 2016, in the basic cycle of Engineering courses at Maua Institute of Technology (IMT). And became a Professor in 2018, working in the basic cycle and Chemical Engineering, and in 2021 in Food Engineering.
I never liked to study, but I always loved to learn. I realized that I learned way more when I was teaching my friends, thus this became my studying method. And it was teaching that made me recognize that learning is much more than just content transmission and that questions have much more to offer than answers. Teaching is a constant process of reflection, questioning, and re-innovation. Or as a Chemical Engineer would say, a process full of recycles.
I see today's Professor as a learning advisor. A guider to which path to take to reach the desired competence since knowledge and information become more and more accessible through technology. And a career advisor. It is essential to have empathy, to notice the uniqueness of each student, and to dream their dream. And grow up together with them.
That's why I see it as essential to explore and combine different approaches and activities to adapt to the different visions and ambitions of the students. And to create a pleasant environment that promotes engagement that encourages the students to be the protagonist of their learning.
Hence, I challenge myself to turn difficult concepts into visual and simpler problems, like simulations, projects, and experiments. So that students can explore, collect information, reflect, and construct the knowledge conjointly. Always trying and exploring new ways of carrying out activities.
